Wants
These are things I want. I’ll just keep them here.
This list is not complete and will be changed from time to time.
I don’t expect anyone to get me these, but you might find something interesting for yourself.
Funko vinyl figures:
Princess LunaBought!Because Luna is the best princess. And I’m about to pre-order this figurine.
Gadgets:
I already have Raspberry Pi, but Banana Pi has 1 Gbps Ethernet and SATA II ports, which would be perfect to turn it into a file server in my home network.
DAS Keyboard 4 Ultimate Soft Tactile (Cherry MX Brown switches)
I don’t care that I already have a bunch of mechanical keyboards (DAS Keyboard Model S Ultimate Clicky, Unicomp 104 Ultra Classic, Topre Realforce 104UB), I want this keyboard. Also I want to try Cherry MX Brown switches.
Xbox One controllerBought!I already have a cheap PS3 controller, and I’m eager to try an Xbox one. I heard that controller for Xbox One is a significant improvement to the Xbox360 controller, which was already pretty good (according to reviews). My friend hates Xbox controllers (his arguments are that they’re too big and heavy, mostly the latter), while I haven’t tried one. The main reason I want to try it is because a lot of Steam games expect it and refuse to work with my PS3 controller.
Steam controllerBought!Alongside Steam Machines Valve will release its own controller. They completely rethought the idea of a gamepad in order to make it more comfortable to play games. It looks very promising. I want to test the result of their efforts.
It’s a superzoom camera from Canon, and its quality can be compared to the one of low-end DSLR cameras. If you don’t know how amazing it is to have 50x optical zoom, go take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuCDIqa1LrM.
New Nintendo 3DSBought!I’m a Nintendo enthusiast and have almost all of their hand-held consoles, starting from Nintendo DS Lite. The biggest bummer with 3DS is that they’re region-locked, which I hate. I already have a US 3DS, now I want their new console to be EU version.
Nokia N900 is the best smartphone that ever existed or will exist. I seriously doubt any company will ever release a smartphone that would be even close to what N900 was, mostly because they for some reason decided that hardware keyboards are obsolete. Neo900 is an enthusiast smartphone based on N900. It has higher specs, although even they are a few years outdated. But that is still a pretty good project, and I would love to have that smartphone.
Because quadrocopters are boring and dragonflies are cool. If you aren’t convinced yet, take a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDuvBurbjVU. What geek wouldn’t want to have that?
I am not really into tablet PC’s, but I still want one as a gadget lover. This one is very good: cheap, it has a big screen (the only reason you’d want a tablet PC over a smartphone) and a long-lasting battery. It’s Android based, so you can have basically every app other Android based gadgets have, and nice specs should allow it to run quite a lot of apps, including games, rather smoothly. Of course, there are downsides for such small price: no NFC and no LTE, although neither of them is widely used where I live. I don’t think you can get any better for under $200.
Digital:
BuyVM Luxembourg VPSBought!I’m pretty happy with my current CINFU hosting, but I just love BuyVM’s support. Those guys are the best. Until now they only had servers in the US, but they are about to deploy a few nodes in Luxembourg, which is great for me, because my routing to their US nodes is pretty damn slow.
Also, recently I became interested in OpenBSD, so I want their KVM VPS.
Deadpool gameBought! This is a hilarious action, which, unfortunately, was called out by Activision at the end of 2013, so there’s no legal way to obtain a digital copy. I’m only interested in the original US version, not localized one, so I can’t just go to any local videogame store. No store sells a digital copy anymore, and I’m too lazy (and greedy) to buy a physical copy abroad.
Pokemon Omega RubyBought!I’m a big Pokemon fan. I became one back when the very first season of Pokemon anime started running on the TV. A few years later I was bought Pokemon Blue, which I still think is the best version ever. I was playing it for about 6 years before I learned there were more Pokemon games. I played those, but didn’t really like them, and the 3rd generation games in my opinion are the worst. But I kinda got used to playing new games after I bought Nintendo DS Lite and Pokemon Diamond back in 2008. So I don’t want to miss the new game, although I don’t expect much from it.
Misc:
Katar is an Indian dagger. I learned about it in MMORPG called Ragnarok Online, it was a primary weapon of the Assassin class. I thought the design and idea were pretty cool, so I’d like to have a replica of this weapon.
NB: Katar displayed at the photo and sold by the store mentioned in the watermark has a dulled blade and is made for cosplaying and decorative purposes only. It might look fearsome, but it would be pretty difficult to kill with it or even seriously injure someone.
And I don’t care that my dakimakura is 20" x 42", while this one is 20" x 60".
Or just Tread, but I think that having a watch would be more useful (and deceiving), especially since I currently don’t have a watch, but used to wear it all the time a few years ago. I needed some tools on numerous occasions throughout my life, and I can’t believe I haven’t thought of a multitool earlier. FYI, this is the video that recently made me want a multitool.
